Some of the ongoing initiatives of HEITBC include:

Representation

Acting as a representative for British Columbia’s post-secondary IT community

Collaboration

Connecting with other organizations and institutions outside of BC’s jurisdiction

Communication

Providing a sounding board for member institutions and encouraging networking and cooperation between them wherever possible

Conferences

Coordinating and planning IT4BC, an annual conference which provides invaluable training and knowledge-sharing between institutions across the province.

Agreements

HEITBC also maintains a number of agreements on behalf of its members, including:

Datatel

• Support of the Administrative Systems Consortium
• Management of a province-wide shared Datatel contract
• Development and maintenance of a hosting solution for smaller institutions, in partnership with Camosun College
• Collaboration with OA Solutions for software and system support

Oracle

• Management and procurement of common licensing

SunGard

• Management and procurement of common licensing
• Collaborative efforts with respect to products

Microsoft

• Management of a Shared Select Agreement
